Christopher Braxton Wren Scholarship
The ICLP is now accepting applications for the Christopher Braxton Wren Scholarship, founded in honor the 1999 alum Chris Wren. Chris Wren was passionately committed to the enforcement of human rights, and this scholarship is awarded annually to students who will be conducting externships that focus on human rights. If you are a 2L or 3L student, you are eligible to apply for this scholarship. It is intended to help defray the costs of pursuing human rights-oriented work, with a preference for international engagements; it will be awarded in the spring of 2017. Please find here a more thorough description of the scholarship, as well as the application form. THIS APPLICATION IS DUE NO LATER THAN THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 30TH AT 4 PM to ICLP Director Pamela Stephens, either by email (pstephens@vermontlaw.edu) or in her mailbox on the first floor of Waterman. Study Abroad in Italy
If you are interested in studying at our partner institution, Trento University, in northern Italy during the 2017 spring semester of your 2L year, please submit the following application no later than 5 PM on Thursday, September 15, 2016.
Trento University is the top law school in Italy, and one of the top European law schools, for the study of European Union law (a rather pertinent subject!) Courses are taught in English, as well as Italian and German. VLS students may take courses in EU law and international law that are taught in English, as well as Italian civil law in Italian or German, if they would like (there is no language requirement for this program).
If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity to study in the EU during this turning-point moment in the Union’s development, please complete the application form. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with questions regarding the program, or the application process (international@vermontlaw.edu).
Find the application here: VLS_Outgoing_Exchange_App

Buying, Selling, Trading
Are you looking for furniture? Roommates? Perhaps you’ve got some extra dungarees lying around that you’d like to trade for a cast iron pot, a backpack, or any number of interesting and useful things. Even without a car or much in the bank, you can probably find an array of items to facilitate your life on SWAN SWAP, VLS’s central online location for buying, selling, trading, and even a smattering of employment opportunities.
(If you have any trouble accessing the page, please email Courtney Collins at ccollins@vermontlaw.edu)
VLS Campus
Vermont Law School’s campus isn’t exactly labyrinthine, but even so, in the first weeks, it can be a little difficult to know exactly which attractive old Victorian you’re supposed to be meeting someone in. In case you’re having a little difficulty deciphering the names and locations–or if you’d like to prepare yourself to be an expert navigator in advance–we’ve got a handy little digital map to help you out (right HERE). And if you’re really having a hard time, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Learning About the ICLP
Of course, one of the best places to learn about the amazing breadth and depth of the International and Comparative Law Program at Vermont Law School, is at our homepage on the VLS website, which can be found HERE. Perhaps the first important thing to know, the above-featured fearless leader is the ICLP’s director, Professor Pam Stephens.
How to Get Around
Vermont–and South Royalton in particular–is very rural. Transportation is pretty limited, and can sometimes take a bit of research or finagling. A great resource to know about is the Stagecoach Bus, for which you can find times, fares, and routes, right HERE.
Health Insurance
Everyone has to have health insurance, and whether you’re going with one of VLS’s options (more information about that HERE) or applying for a requirement waiver ( 2016_International_Insurance_Waiver_Request) you’ll have to be able to show proof of insurance by the time orientation rolls around.
